Proper Icing of An Injury

For injuries that present with inflammation and pain, the conventional wisdom most offered by doctors is to ice the area to diminish the symptoms. It is important to note that over icing an area can cause further injury to an area.
  • Apply an ice pack to the area of inflammation
  • Apply ice pack for ten minutes. Wait one hour before applying ice again.
  • It is important not to ice for too long, as over icing can cause further injury to an area.
